Power 90 Workout Review 6-24-09

I usually get up at 4:30 am, start the coffee, grab a drink, towel, etc. and start my power 90 workout by 4:45. My normal routine (since starting the whole Power 90 program) has me hitting the sack around 8:30 pm. So far this has been working very well for me even tho its a drastic change from my old stay up late playing MMORPGs or watching TV.

This week has been slightly different as my wife and I are a taking motorcycle safety class which is required to get our licenses in the state of RI. These are Monday and Tuesday after work and get out at 10:00pm followed by a 1 hour drive home then winding down before bed.

Now for this mornings workout… Wednesday is sculpt 3 – 4 which I usually like more than the sweat 3 – 4 even though its a harder more tiring workout for me. I’ve been logging my reps and weight and early on noticed I wasn’t doing so well. 2 fewer decline pushups, only 7 bicep curls instead of Mondays 8 with the same weight, etc.

After the end of the second set with the lunge / squats I was done… I was definitely disappointed in myself but will finish the workout tonight after work.

The only thing I can think of that has changed and might be responsible for this laps in my ability to “bring it” is the lack of a decent rest the past 2 nights. Part of the program, along with the workouts and diet, is getting 7-8 hours sleep to recover and rebuild. OK, this point has been driven home, lesson learned!

There is one more week of these night classes then its back to my normal routine, lots of rest and pushing myself to do one more rep, a little more weight, one fewer pause each workout.
